Photographing Puppies and Kittens

Puppies and kittens are cute, wiggly , hard to predict and hard to photograph so We thought this would be a good first article for our tips page .

Before you round up your subject, pick an area to take your pictures . Is the area bright, uncluttered ? Look thru the viewfinder and see . Clear away anything that will distract the eye from your subject in the final picture. A few props can make a picture fun, toys , colored pillows, blankets , use your imagination and gather up a few things .Even texture, like the wood above, can add to your photo . Have extra film right on hand so you don't have to run off for another roll .A squeaky toy, can do wonders in getting your subjects attention, while you snap that perfect shot.

Red eyes always ruin the look of a picture . Taking photos outside almost always eliminates red eyes . If that isn't possible then try not to use a strobe If you must use one, then try to keep it 6 inches from the camera lense . This will avoid the bounce back from subjects' eyes into the lense . This bounce back is the cause of red eyes . ( if you already have photos with red eyes , you can purchase a red eye pen at a photo store , you will be able to turn the eyes black instead of red ) .

Don't forget, make your subject the STAR of your picture, CHECK the viewfinder before pressing that button !!!

Most of all have FUN taking your pictures, it will show :-)
